How HelloTime kiosk mode works

Kiosk mode is a routing flag inside the same APK shipped to phones — there is no separate kiosk app to install, version, or pay for.

    Buy a tablet for under ₹15k

    HelloTime's tested kiosk hardware: Lenovo M10, Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 or Xiaomi Pad — all available below ₹15,000 retail. No proprietary hardware, no buyback contract.

    Install the same APK

    The HelloTime Attend APK ships a single binary for phones and kiosks. The same build that runs on a worker's phone runs on the tablet — no separate kiosk app to maintain.

    Pair the tablet to the site once

    Admin scans a one-time site QR code on the tablet. The device persists a site ID plus a device JWT and switches into the kiosk shell on next launch. No per-employee login.

    Lock the tablet down

    On Android, HelloTime uses the Device Policy Controller plus Single-App Mode so workers can't exit the app. On iPad, Guided Access is supported — Android tablets are the OEM default for cost reasons.

    Multi-employee carousel (early access)

    The kiosk caches the site's PersonGroup subset for sub-second match. Worker steps up, face is detected and matched, name appears with clock-in / clock-out, two-second confirm, screen resets for the next worker. The 1:N identify endpoint is gated to pilot sites today — onboarding by request.

10-inch 1080p tablet, front camera, Android 13. Around ₹13–15k retail. HelloTime's reference kiosk hardware.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

10.5-inch tablet, decent front camera, sturdy build. Around ₹13–17k retail. Solid second choice.

Xiaomi Pad / Redmi Pad

10-inch tablet line, sub-₹15k variants available. Tested as a budget kiosk option.

Tablet wall / desk mount

Generic VESA or floor-stand mount; HelloTime is hardware-agnostic — pick anything that physically fits the site.

Charging cable + power

Tablets stay plugged in at the kiosk station. No special PoE or industrial wiring needed.

Pairing flow

  1. Admin opens the HelloTime web console, generates a site QR code from the site's settings.
  2. Worker or admin opens the HelloTime APK on the tablet, taps "Pair as kiosk", scans the QR.
  3. The tablet persists the site ID and a device JWT, locks orientation to landscape, and enters Single-App Mode on next launch.
  4. The kiosk pulls the site's enrolled PersonGroup subset and caches it locally for sub-second face identification.
  5. Admin can revoke a paired tablet from the web console at any time — the device JWT is rotated, the cache is wiped on next sync.
